I have not installed Hyper-V as all my projects are using SQL 2008 / VS2008. I probably will as soon as I have a requirement for a alternative virtual machine.

I found many apps are now available in 64-bit (e.g. iTunes) or the 32-bit version works fine. This is not the case for any security software though. The 32-bit version of a VPN package just fell over in a heap on the 64-bit machine. So I will have to wait until they supply a 64-bit version.

The only downside (or bonus, depending upon your age) of moving to 64-bit is that there is no MSN Messenger for 64-bit. From my point of view, this is great as my laptop does not get pinched any more by my teenage daughter!

I'm a newly graduated computer scientist that just wanted to thank you for such an informative blog. I've just started to really dig my heals into my first monolithic software engineering project using Microsoft’s newest line of technologies. Your little pet project has indirectly answered a slew of application compatibility questions that I have had grave concerns with Windows Server 2008. Thanks.

Just 'hh:mm:ss' doesn't work, because if the duration (for example) is 45 hours, then 21:00:00 is shown. That's because the first 24 hours aren't displayed.

So do you perhaps have the code to display for example 45 hours as 45:00:00?

re: The FACT is that it is not so DIM after all

Thanks Piotr, I am a great fan of prefixes and acurate naming. Using a seperate schema for the cube is a great idea and exactly what I initially proposed. However, the dev team are using CodeSmith to generate their code and they tell me the tool only supports the dbo schema. Clearly my views should affect thier work, but they insisted on a single schema. Shame.

This is what many people flame about, and I still find it easier to organize objects if they have meaningful prefixes. Oldskul you may call it.:)

Thanks to Dr. John.

I tried your solution and its works great, your earlier BI implementation been inspired to implement BI for SSC. Also the excel package example was great I have re-created package to suit with multiple template and style based on user input.
