SQL 2008 (Katmai) will NOT be available as an finished product in Feb 2008 or before

I would just like to reiterate that the launch date of Feb 2008 for SQL Server 2008 is a marketing excercise and nothing else. For SQL Server you will NOT be able to obtain an RTM (i.e. not a CTP)  version of SQL Server at this date or before it.

This is very confusing as the other products being launched. Windows Server and Visual Studio will both have been RTM'd (Release To Manufacturing) by that point.

If you were at the SQL 2005 launch then the same applied to Biztalk at that launch. It did not RTM until sometime after (2006 I think)

So just think of the launch event as a means by which MS can combine the public showing of (maybe to save some money, who knows?)

I know this has been said before but I still see confusion around.

Any pointers as to what the actual RTM date will be yet?
