Thanks to all those that attended the usergroup last
night. It was a great turnout. It was nice to see lots of people I hadn't met
before. I may see you at the next one (http://www.sqlpass.org.uk/Events/November2009Meeting/tabid/67/Default.aspx)
although it is a bit too close to http://SQLBits.com so I might not be able to make
it. It will be a cracker though as Brent Ozar (http://www.brentozar.com/) will be
presenting

I will be putting my slides up over the weekend and hopefully a viedo of the
first half.

In the meantime if you have any questions please let me know http://sqlblogcasts.com/blogs/simons/contact.aspx

One person asked about debugging and admin permissions. I have blogged about
that here "Does
debugging in SQL 2008 require sysadmin priviledges"

Given the current climate its great to have some new
Gold sponsors for the next SQLBits.

We've got SQLSentry , Redgate and Attunity on board as well as the stalwart sponsor
Idera

We are finalising the agenda this week, its been a bit more complicated than
usual with 91 sessions to sort out.

Look forward to seeing you there.

If you didn't know the next SQLBits is going to be on
the 13th September 2008.

We have had an overwhelming response for sessions for the next SQLBits buts
there is still time for you to get your session in, especially if you fancy
doing something on Business Intelligence.

To submit a session its dead easy

1. Go to the submit a session http://www.sqlbits.com/information/SessionSubmission.aspx
2. If you're not registered then register (link available on the page)
3.
Create a speaker BIO
4. Submit your session

I look forward to seeing more sessions.

August.

heard of LINQ, LINQ to SQL or Entity Framework, or you might have heard of over
ORM solutions such as NHibernate. ORMs are all about being able to have a set of
objects which developers can use with out having to worry about data access.

So what do these tools mean for the SQL Server Developer and

Have you got something you've found out that you think
others might be interested in. Then submit a session for the next SQLBits on
13th September 2008.

http://www.sqlbits.com/information/SessionSubmission.aspx

You need to be logged in to fill in a BIO and submit a session.

Once we have all the sessions in we will open voting to get the community to
decide which sessions they would like to see.

If you're stuck for ideas have a look at the sessions from the previous
events.

http://www.sqlbits.com/information/event2/PublicSessions.aspx

Thanks for all those that turned up tonight it was a
good turnout, if only for the beer and pizza (which was very good for those who
didn't come).

We will be following up on the questions that everyone raised over the next
few days. If you thought of anything else feel free to contact me.

As I mentioned during the meeting We are looking for people to help out at
user group meetings and to speak. Many of you I spoke to said you had something
that you would like to present. Please drop me a line and we can arrange
something for the forthcomin meetings. The next one will be in TVP and the one
after in London again. Your session only has to be 5 or 10 minutes (although I
bet once you get started you won't be able to stop) so don't even worry about a
slide deck just bring some demos.

Once again thanks for turning up and I hope to see most of you at sqlbits
next weekend.

Last year we promised more usergroup meetings and
hopefully this year we will deliver.

I have now arranged to have a user group meeting every 3rd Thursday of the
month. We will be starting off in London on the 21st of February and then
alternating between Reading and London every month.

As mentioned the first one is a week on Thursday at Microsofts new London
office you can find more details of the event here http://www.sqlserverfaq.com/?eid=108.

As we get the agendas sorted for the following events we
will post those on the site as well. There is so much going on this year there is plenty of
content to talk about.

If you want to speak at a meeting feel free to contact Tony ormyself
