SQL Server 2008 Product Overview Whitepaper
The SQL Server 2008 Product Overview whitepaper is now available. It details some of the upcoming enhancements to SQL Server in the 2008 release (note that almost all of these are NOT in the June CTP). Some of the key engine features I'm looking forward to are
- Native Backup Compression
- Enhanced Data Compression
- Data Auditing
- Transparent data encryption
- Proper Resource Governor
These features all help with the current pain points of ever increasing storage requirements, database consolidation, compliance and auditing.
