The Database Architect program, the newest Technology Architect program under the Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) umbrella, provides training and certification in Microsoft SQL Server to help you become a trusted database architect. The program ensures success in three ways.

Top tier training and certification

The instructors are renowned leaders in their specific subject areas. Most of the instructors are Microsoft subject matter experts and members of the product development team as well as top Microsoft product architects, support professionals, and members of the Microsoft IT department.

Certification requires extensive industry experience, successful completion of intensive written exams, lab-based simulations, and an evaluation by a peer-based Review Board.

A community of trusted architects

The program provides highly trained and skilled product architects who have strong ties to the Microsoft development team and the Microsoft IT department. These ties provide direct input into current and future products, as well as definitive and authoritative answers to questions in a timely manner.

The Microsoft development team trusts the community, based on its partnership in building the program and certification, and regards this community as its foremost field-based resource.

Skills to successfully address complex customer requirements

The curriculum ensures that architects have a broad and solid understanding of how to address the most complex scenarios and customer requirements.

The certification process ensures that graduates have extensive real-life experience and are equipped with not just the utmost technical skills but also the soft skills required to be successful in an enterprise or otherwise complex deployment.

Sharing rigorous prerequisites and Board reviews with the other MSA programs, the Database Architect program differs from the Infrastructure and Solutions Architect programs in the following ways:

External participation is limited to Microsoft Gold Certified Partners only (systems integrators). It is not open to general customers.

Enrollment fee is US$25,000. This fee covers the certification process and training program, but does not guarantee successful completion of the program.

I think it's a shame that only gold partners may follow this route, I'd suggest that it's likely the majority of "sql server experts" are independent. I'm not quite sure how a leather jacket rates as a key benefit of this program < grin >

Hi

I'm totally agree with you.
