Reflections on my 7th Gup grading (7th May 2006)

Another Taekwon Do grading under my 'belt' if you pardon the pun, yesterday I went for the Yellow Green tag belt (7th Gup), a lot of fun, bit nerve racking - doing all the patterns again and three step sparring - I quite enjoyed it once complete. The biggest suprise was I nearly got an A+, made just one mistake, I train about 3 times a week now, 4 if I can make it and I thought I'd just scrape through.

My mistake was in not doing an L stance properly, its basically put your weight (16stone) 70% on your back leg and 30% on your front, it feels so dam uncomfortable, I suppose with time it will get easier.

On to more fun now - board breaking; I've done it a couple of times, again - worrying at first because you think you are going to break your foot but its dam good fun, I'm even thinking of setting something up in my back garden - a lot less expensive than throwing a mouse against the wall when I can't get my SQL or C# to work.

Anyway, enough, if you fancy taking up Taekwon Do and I highly recommend it and you live in the Harpenden/Luton/St Albans/Hatfield area then check out http://www.herts-itf.co.uk/; its a good school and the guy who runs it is dam good as are all the others in the school who helped my get through this last grading!
