Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway March 2008

The Lakeside and Haverthwate railway starts at Haverthwaite and winds through beutiful Lakeland countryside until it reaches the bottom of Lake Windermere (not actually a lake - the hints in the name); my son loves it - there is a really old footbridge across the line where you can stand and the steam engine passes underneath - you get enveloped in steam - he loves it; great blast back into time and the scenary.

This shot was taken on Saturday afternoon 22nd March 2008 on a vist to collect mother.

If you are ever in the Lake District I thoroughly recommend you take a trip up on the train to Lakeside and then the boat up to Windermere or Ambleside - a fantastic trip although a little cold in the Autumn and Spring months.

After we had set up SQLBits we all went out for a well earned meal - we did order too much food and Chris took a fairly lage dogy bag home with him.

I always thought Business Intelligence folk where paid a lot more than the regular DBA; perhaps his wife doesn't feed him :)

My company, Torver Computer Consultants takes it's name from a small village near Coniston called Torver; one of my relatives is buried there.

Whenever up North visiting family I usually take mother for a visit; I love Coniston - one of the less tourist overrun spots up there. When I lived up north I used to cycle over the fells round the lake and back - god I was fit back then, if only I hadn't moved down south....
