@Jasper thanks for the post. I'd been uninstalling things willy nilly hoping one of them would count as express tools, but I hadn't suspected RedGate. You might want to update your post to clarify that SQLSearch 1.0 is currently the problem.

@anyoneis You're funny. Just because it's an error message doesn't mean it's misleading. Sometimes, as you say, doing what they instruct is the ticket.

I wanted to add that it was (for me) the RedGate SQL Search 1.0 that was the culprit. Once removed, install went through fine.
